A Delhi Police constable was stabbed and injured critically by three youths in a robbery bid at southeast Delhi's Chirag Dilli area, late evening on Tuesday. Police said that the cop was attacked by the group who wanted to snatch his mobile phone.

According to the senior police officers, the incident took place round 10.30 pm when the victim, Constable Vishram, was waiting for a bus to return home.

"As told by the victim, he was approached by three youths on a bike who stopped in front of him. The trio asked the cop to hand over his belongings. Seeing that the men were armed, Vishram tried to escape but was attacked by the accused. He said they tried to snatch his phone but he did not let go," said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile the onlooker called up the police and the Constable was rushed to AIIMS Trauma centre where he was discharged on Wednesday. A case under relevant sections was registered at Ambedkar Nagar police station.
