According to the police, the accused identified as Shahrukh was arrested from Meerut after the parents of the girl reached the Chandni Mahal police station on Tuesday alleging that the accused has been sexually assaulting their daughter for the last two months. A team was sent to Meerut and the arrest was made.

Investigating officers revealed that the girl had eloped two months ago with the man who promised to marry her. "Her parents were aware about the girl leaving the house and residing with the accused in Meerut. However, the police was not informed. The man established sexual relations with the girl but refused to marry her. She returned to Delhi and informed her parents about her ordeal. A case has been registered," said a police officer.

Sources said that the girl and the accused met through common friends and developed feelings over time. They started speaking to each other over the phone and got into a relationship; that's when the accused promised to marry her.

She left with him for Meerut where he assaulted her for two months but refused to marry her.

Further investigation is underway.
