The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested a Veterinary Inspector of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), South Zone, for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

A case was registered against the inspector a few days back.

The complainant wanted to open a meat shop in the area of Aya Nagar, New Delhi. So, he approached the inspector for help and guidance.

The complainant alleged that the inspector agreed to help him in getting license to open meat shop in lieu of a bribe worth Rs 60,000. On receiving this information, CBI laid a trap accordingly to apprehend the inspector. CBI caught the veterinary inspector red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. Searches are being conducted at the residential premises of the accused.

Earlier in the month of January this year, CBI had arrested a zonal officer of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 32,000 from a complainant.

The arrested veterinary inspector will be produced before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi on Friday.
