Vouching for the "kindness" of the Bhatias, whose 11 members were found dead in north Delhi's Burari on Sunday morning, residents say that they were very helpful and used to give stuff on credit to the needy locals. The Bhatia's owned a 26-year-old grocery shop in the locality and many people would line up outside their shop to buy milk every morning.
Their store would open at six every morning and close at 11 pm. "We could never imagine that something like this will happen to such nice people," said Rajan, a customer and resident of Sant Nagar, who had set out to get milk at 6:30 am but instead got the shocking news of their death on reaching the store.
Another customer Rashi who was also from the same neighborhood said, "The family were really kind people and used to help those in need. They were nice enough to even give us things on credit and never cribbed like other shopkeepers asking for money. Because of their behaviour towards customers, we also started coming here."
Anant, another customer and a resident of Sant Nagar said "A few years ago when we were refurbishing our house, we had sought help from the Bhatias to change everything to plywood. We paid them later for the stuff. They were a really generous and kind-hearted family."
