As Delhi votes to choose its next government, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been mocking him over his recital of 'Hanuman Chalisa' on a TV channel.
Taking to microblogging site Twitter, Kejriwal questioned what kind of politics is the BJP playing.
"Ever since I read Hanuman Chalisa on a TV channel, the BJP people are constantly mocking me. Yesterday I went to Hanuman temple. Today BJP leaders are saying that the temple was defiled by my departure. What kind of politics is this? God belongs to everyone. God bless everyone, even those in BJP," Kejriwal tweeted, roughly translated from Hindi.

It may be noted that on Friday, Kejriwal along with his wife offered prayers at the famous Hanuman Temple near Connaught Place.
Earlier today, BJP MP from Delhi Manoj Tiwari had called Kejriwal a 'nakli bhakt' (fake devotee). "Did he go to worship Hanuman ji or make him impure? He used his hand to remove his shoe, then held the garland in the same hand.. What has he done? This is what happens when fake devotees arrive. I told the priest, he has washed Hanuman ji several times," Tiwari told news agency PTI.
Manoj Tiwari, BJP: Woh (Arvind Kejriwal) pooja karne gaye the ya Hanuman Ji ko ashudh karne gaye the? Ek haath se joota utaarke, ussi haath se mala lekar...kya kar diya? Jab nakli bhakt aate hain na toh yahi hota hai. Maine pandit ji ko bataya, bahut baar Hanuman Ji ko dhoye hain. pic.twitter.com/lETgFhgfK7

During an election rally in Delhi on February 4, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said, "Now Arvind Kejriwal has started reciting the 'Hanuman Chalisa'. In coming days, you will see Owaisi reciting the same. This will certainly happen."
The voting for all 70 assembly seats in Delhi is underway amid tight security arrangement across the national capital in view of ongoing anti-CAA protests at several places.
The counting of votes will take place on February 11.
