According to the complainant, Singh had demanded a total of Rs 10,000 as a bribe for not acting against him on a complaint filed by this wife earlier. He added that he had already paid Rs 6,000 to the police officer and then approached the Vigilance Branch after receiving further demands from Singh.

"On this information, we formed a team and laid a trap on Monday at the Bara Hindu Rao Police Station. The complainant went to offer the remaining Rs 4,000 to Singh along with a witness. The money was being received by Pardeep on behalf of Singh. We apprehended both of them immediately," said an official from the Vigilance Branch.

The police then registered a case against the accused policemen under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and arrested them. They also recovered the cash of Rs 10,000 which was taken as a bribe.
