ASEA opens with focus on unified global platform

With main focus on providing a unified global networking platform to facilitate the growth of adventure sports and responsible tourism viz-a-viz products and services, Adventure Sports Expo Asia 2018, started here on Saturday. Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev inaugurated the event that will see participation from more than 60 brands and 15,000 visitors and adventure sports enthusiasts.

The expo has been extended support by various ministries and forums including Ministry of Tourism. The event will have different exhibitions, speaker sessions, adventure activities, workshops and award night spread over three days.  

Adventure Sports Expo Asia has also come up with a special speaker session by women in adventure sports. The main motto of this panel discussion is to create awareness & motivate women towards adventure sports along with creating more opportunities in India. This women-led session witnessed luminaries such as Archana Sardana- India’s first and only woman BASE (Building, Antenna, Span and Earth) jumper, Dr Neharika Yadav- a Superbike racer and dental surgeon, Suzanne Al Houby- first Arab woman to climb Mount Everest, Malavath Purna- she scaled the highest peak of Mount Everest and, aged 13 years and 11 months, became the youngest girl in the world to have reached the summit of Everest.as a one-stop destination for adventure sports fraternity. 

In his inaugural address, Dev said, “I am in favour of encouraging all kinds of sports but adventure sports is particularly good because it gets you close to nature and into clean fresh places which calms the body and mind. 
I am sure in years to come more people will discover the joys of participating in adventure Sports.”

ASEA also aims to catalyze the growth of adventure sports & responsible tourism by bringing in world-class gear equipment makers, expert trainers, best practices, and technology advancement.

Sharing his thoughts, Ajeet Bajaj, managing director of one of the participating companies, said, “India already has huge potential as an adventure sports destination with so much diversity from mountains to rivers and desserts. The event will help market India as an iconic destination for adventure sports to the world.”
