Around 11 am, Delhi and its National Capital Region wore a thick blanket of dark clouds, setting the tone for the weather all week. As rains lashed major parts of the city, mercury plummeted, bringing chill back in the air.

Intermittent rains occurred at various places in NCR on Monday night while the sky remained overcast throughout the day after the showers on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological department, the minimum temperature recorded was 9 degrees Celsius — two degrees above normal. The maximum temperature settled at 17 degrees Celsius — four notches below normal.
The weatherman has predicted dense fog in the coming days and the temperature will drop further, with Wednesday likely to have a minimum of 6 degrees Celsius while the maximum will go up by three degrees, at 20 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, minimum temperature will further drop to 5 degrees Celsius, with the possibility of moderate fog.
Most residents were caught unawares by the rain and the cold weather.
