AAP submits video evidence of assault on Imran Hussain in Delhi Secretariat

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders met Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik on Monday and submitted a video evidence in connection with the alleged assault on AAP minister Imran Hussain on February 20 at the Delhi Secretariat. The AAP leaders also demanded justice and prompt action with regard to the assault cases on their ministers.

AAP leader Ashutosh and party MP Sanjay Singh met Patnaik in the afternoon demanding justice in two separate cases of assault on AAP minister Imran Hussain and Delhi Dialogue Commission's vice-chairman Ashish Khetan.

A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code was later registered at IP Estate police station. Even as the police claimed that they are trying to identify the accused, no arrests have been made so far.

The AAP leaders said they wanted police to investigate the case in a fair manner and be as prompt as they were in making arrests in connection with the alleged assault case of Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.

Search operations were conducted at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's on Friday. The AAP had condemned the Delhi police entering premises of the chief minister and stated it as an act of insult. Singh said there cannot be two sets of laws. The police should act in a free and fair manner and arrest the accused for the assaults on its members.

"We just want the police to show similar promptness in the assault case on AAP MLA' as they have shown in arresting our MLA's and carrying out search operations at Kejriwal's residence, said Singh.
