Among the other hopefuls are senior party leader Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, city-based Chartered Accountant ND Gupta, and businessman Sushil Gupta. "Nothing can be confirmed as of now. A final call will be taken by the party's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) on Wednesday," a senior party member said.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Patidar agitation leader Hardik Patel took to Twitter in favour of disgruntled AAP founding member Vishwas's candidature, saying that he was best suited to take on the "fake nationalists".

"If there is someone who can silence the fake nationalists in the Parliament, then it is Kumar Vishwas but wonder who in the party is so insecure of his standing that he is hell bent on destroying the party," he tweeted.

Vishwas had recently expressed his desire for a nomination in Rajya Sabha, to which several party members had disagreed.

Earlier, the party had contacted around 18 eminent personalities from different walks of life, including former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan and ex-Chief Justice of India TS Thakur.
