After the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill came under scrutiny following the solicitor general's claim that it is unconstitutional, AAP leader Ashutosh on Friday dubbed Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung an "agent of the Congress".

Raising doubts over the credentials of Jung, Ashutosh questioned: "How come a number of conversations held within the premises of the LG office were leaked?"

"How has the discussion between the LG and the Solicitor General, which is confidential, been leaked? They need to answer that," he said.

The former journalist further urged Jung to work for Delhi and not for the Congress Party.

Taking note of Ashutosh's comments, Congress leader J P Agarwal said that the LG is a respectable man and the AAP cannot throw muck at people.

Ashutosh's statement came after a confidential letter between Lt. Governor Jung and the Solicitor General was leaked.

Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran had advised that it would not be advisable to go in for Jan Lokpal Bill without the Centre's approval.

Parasaran said the Lieutenant Governor's prior approval is mandatory to enact the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill, and added that it would be illegal if enacted without consent.

The Delhi Government had on February 3 cleared the final draft of the Jan Lokpal Bill, with the Chief Minister's office falling in its ambit.

The Jan Lokpal Bill was one of the main issues promised in Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) manifesto.
