In a freak accident, six people received critical burns when an LPG cylinder exploded inside a dry cleaning shop in South Delhi's Munirka area on Friday evening. The blast was such that a portion of a three-storied building collapsed.

The incident took place around 7 pm. Officers said that those who were present inside the building were injured and had to be pulled out of the debris.

"Hearing the explosion locals called up the police and fire services were roped in. Teams from disaster management were also rushed in to carry out rescue operation. Six of the workers were burnt severely, however, no deaths were reported till late Friday," said a senior officer.

In another incident, a major fire broke out at the Comesum restaurant near Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station. Eleven fire tenders were rushed and the fire was controlled before it could spread to nearby areas, officers said.

The reason for both the fires is yet to be probed, officials from the Delhi Fire Services said.
