A 30-year-old businessman's date with a woman he met online turned into a horror story after he was abducted by eight men from the place where he was supposed to meet the woman and told to pay Rs 25 lakh as ransom. The police arrested six of the alleged abductors on Monday and also detained the woman, who is eight-months pregnant.

According to the police, the victim, Ashish Gupta, a resident of Shahadra, registered a complaint in this regard last Wednesday. "He said that he had met the woman on Facebook and they soon exchanged numbers and started texting each other. On April 10, they planned to have lunch. But as soon as he drove to the address in the Geeta Colony area where the woman said she wanted to meet him, eight to 10 persons suddenly attacked him and overpowered him. He said that they took him to a room in the Laxmi Nagar area, where they robbed him of valuables and jewellery," said Nupur Prasad, DCP, Shahadra.

They later released him after he managed to pay them Rs 3 lakh and some valuables. But when the accused later started calling him again demanding more money, the victim lodged a complaint.

The accused have been identified as Sahil Mehandi Ratta (30), Arun Garg (24), Shoib alias Chandan (23), Jai Mehta (27), Ashish Mehandi Ratta (32) and Litesh (36). The woman who had been used as a honey trap is also being questioned.
