A 55-year-old woman was allegedly bludgeoned to death by her relatives over a property dispute in East Delhi's Jagatpuri area on Wednesday night. The police registered a case of murder and have arrested one of the accused. However, four others are absconding.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Fareeda. She resided in New Govindpuri area with her husband and children. Two of her brother-in-law, Musa and Shamshad, also lived with them.

The family had been facing issues because of one property in Delhi and another in their village. On Wednesday night, Haider and Shamshad were having a discussion over the property matter which soon turned ugly. As they were engaged in a heated argument, other members of the family came out and tried to calm the situation. A scuffle ensued and Musa, along with four of his children, attacked Fareeda with a baseball bat and an iron rod. She collapsed on the ground and was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

The hospital authorities and the family informed the police. The body was handed over to the family after a post mortem examination on Thursday. The police arrested Musa on Thursday morning, however, his children are still on the run.
