48-year-old man shot dead by rival gang in Delhi's Bawana area

A criminal was shot dead in Outer Delhi's Bawana area on Wednesday evening allegedly by members of the rival gang who wanted to show their supremacy in the area.

The incident took place around 7.30pm.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as 48-year old Manoj Sahrawat, a bad character of Bawana area. Sources stated that two persons shot at him from a close range on his forehead which led to his death.

Manoj had parked his bike near the main market area on Bawana road and was going for some work when he was attacked. Police officials added that the sequence of incidents isn't clear so far.

Manoj has a criminal record and worked as a moneylender in the area. His nephew Vishal is the member of Neeraj Bawana gang who is currently lodged in jail. Manoj's father had disowned him after he tried to illegally capture one of the family properties. He has over 20 cases registered against him including the kidnapping of a schoolboy and robbing people by posing to be a cop.

In another incident reported from Bawana area, a criminal who was recently released from jail was shot at by car-borne assailants on Tuesday afternoon. Dushyant alias Monu was on his scooter when he was first hit by the car and later attacked. The CCTV footage from the crime scene shows the three accused men first hit the scooter from behind and later fired at him indiscriminately as he tried to escape. Monu is undergoing treatment at a city hospital and has sustained three bullet wounds two on his abdomen and one in the thigh.
