According to the police, Ishan, his sister Rinki, and their mother Mohini were sitting around a bonfire they had lit to keep themselves warm. Thursday was the coldest day in the Capital this season.

The police said Ishan, probably in an attempt to make it bigger, poured an inflammable liquid in the fire. The fire raged out of control and within seconds, the entire room was engulfed in flames.

Since Ishan was the closest to the fire, he was quickly engulfed in it. His mother and sister tried to save him and sustained burn injuries.

The neighbours, who heard their screams, rushed to their aid with water. The police and the fire officials were informed as well. Ishan died during treatment.
