According to police, the deceased has been identified as Sachin Kumar, resident of Bhata village in Dankaur. Kumar and his friend were travelling in an auto-rickshaw towards Kasna in Greater Noida at 7.30 am when a Maruti Ertiga, coming from the opposite side, hit the three-wheeler at NRI gate.

"It is a service road which has one side blocked. The car hit the auto-rickshaw head on. Both of them were thrown out of the auto due to the impact of the accident," said Farmood Ali Pundir, Station House Officer, Dankaur Police Station.

Police said that Kumar sustained injuries in the head and multiple fractures in his body. The drivers of both the three wheeler and the car fled from the spot after the accident. The duo were then rushed to Yatharth hospital by passers-by. Kumar was declared brought dead while his friend is said to be critical.

"A case under section 304 of the IPC has been registered against the driver of the car. The car has been named in the FIR and we have informed the owner of the car about it. The case was registered after we received a complaint from Ompal, father of the deceased," Pundir added.

Kumar's body has been sent for post-mortem. The car and auto have been taken to the police station.

The car is believed to have been a police vehicle, but police have refused to verify the same.
