A major fire broke out in Jamuri Education building in southeast Delhi’s New Friends’ Colony on Wednesday afternoon. All the three floors of the building were completely gutted by the fire, however no loss of life was reported.
“The fire broke out at around 1:52 pm and was doused by 4:35 pm by 24 fire tenders,” said a fire official. The fire fort broke out on the second floor at the premises of a coaching centre and soon engulfed the remaining floors.
Employees of the departmental store claimed that the fire started due to a short-circuit in an air-conditioner installed outside a shop near their store.
After the fire was doused off the building was searched and no loss of life was reported.
