A man stabbed a 21-year-old youth in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri, late on Saturday night. The accused was acquainted with the victim, and police suspect personal enmity to be the reason behind the murder. No arrest, however, could be made till late on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Vijender. According to the police, around 11pm on the day of the incident, the accused, later identified as one Lucky, approached Vijender and picked up a fight over a petty matter.

"According to the witnesses, the duo argued and then started hitting each other. Then suddenly, Lucky pulled out a knife and stabbed Vijender a few times. Hearing his screams, locals gathered on the spot and called the police. The victim was immediately rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival," a senior police officer said.

A crime and forensics team was rushed to the spot to collect evidence. Police said the victim's family is being questioned to ascertain the reason behind the murder. "CCTV footage from the nearby areas is also being checked to ascertain the sequence of events. In addition, raids are being conducted at various locations to nab the identified accused," the officer added.

Meanwhile, police have sent the body for post-mortem.
