Former Australian cricketer Xavier Doherty, who was part of 2015 ICC World Cup winning squad, has turned into a carpenter after retiring from cricket in 2017. The left-arm spinner has represented Australia in four Test matches, 60 ODIs, and 11 T20Is.
The Australian Cricketers' Association recently posted a video on its Twitter account in which Xavier Doherty can be seen learning the art of carpentry.
Xavier Doherty made his international debut in 2010. In 2015, he was part of the Australian team that won the ICC World Cup, although he could not find a place in the playing XI in the final.
Doherty said that when he retired from cricket, he did not think what he will do in future. He did different types of works, including landscaping, office work and some cricket related work.
Then Doherty decided to become a carpenter and he is a trained carpenter now. According to Doherty, he received help from Australian Cricketers Association transition manager Carla and he was also given some money to take care of his education.
