Team India had to work pretty hard to get their first wicket of the New Zealand innings as the Kiwi openers Devon Conway and Tom Latham negotiated long spells from all the three pacers, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami masterfully and kept them at bay for a long period of time.

It took 34 overs for the Indian side to get their first breakthrough when off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin got Tom Latham to play in the air towards skipper Virat Kohli at extra cover and he timed his jump to perfection.

Both Conway and Latham didn't look in any discomfort as they safely played their shots and defended when they needed to. Only Ishant Sharma got a little movement from the surface, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, more of the seam bowlers didn't get any help from the surface.

Thus, Indian fans missed the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Siraj, who are known to swing the ball. While, Siraj, wasn't picked in the in playing XI, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was given a complete miss from the squad.

Many fans suggested that Bhuvi would have been lethal in these conditions, some suggested that if he would have been playing he would have given India a couple of wickets easily.

Here are some of the reactions:
