The ODI series against England that ended on Thursday did not use DRS while it was used in the recent series in New Zealand.
India's ODI captain Mithali Raj said after the 2-1 series win against England here on Thursday that her team would benefit from having Decision Review System (DRS) consistently.
The ODI series against England that ended on Thursday did not use DRS while it was used in the recent series in New Zealand.
"We would love to have DRS because when it comes to big events like the ICC (tournaments), where you have DRS, we need to get a bit of experience for the girls to understand its concept and how and when to take it. If it is irregular like when we had it in New Zealand and suddenly you don't have it at home, and maybe have it in the next series when we tour abroad, it becomes a difficult for the players to accept a concept like that
" It does have its own effects. It is good and bad. There are dismissals that go your way and some don't go your way. In perspective of a player, if it is consistently followed, it will be much better for the girls to understand more clearly when to use."
However, Mithali said that it did not matter for her as a captain whether DRS is in vogue or not. "I have led before DRS came into the picture also. For me, personally it doesn't matter. Sometimes you get caught behind and you get away with it. Sometimes you don't even know and are given out. For me as captain, it doesn't matter. I believe some decisions go your way and some don't. It's part of sport and that is what makes matches interesting," said Mithali.
