The BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly, has put the ambiguity around the venue of the World Test Championship final to rest as he has confirmed that the summit clash will not take place at the iconic Lord's Stadium. Team India made it to the WTC final after beating England in the fourth and final Test match and ended the current cycle as the table topper with 520 points out of 720 contested, with a 72.2 percentage of points (PCT).

While there were speculations of the final moving to another venue as many suggested that Lord's was not even the confirmed venue, however, Ganguly has said that WTC final will indeed be taking place at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. However, the official announcement from the ICC is still pending.

In a media interview with a channel, Ganguly said, "Yeah, it is in Southampton. It was decided a long time ago. Due to COVID and they have the hotel absolutely close [in Southampton]. When England resumed play after COVID, they had a lot of matches in Southampton due to the same reason."

England played most of their home season in Southampton as well as the Old Trafford in Manchester when they resumed hosting the games after the COVID-19 induced delay.

While New Zealand became the first team to qualify for the inaugural WTC final after the postponement of Australia's three-match Test series against South Africa, India still needed to win at least two games and not lose more than one to qualify and they won the remaining three after losing the first one.
