In a novel gesture, the Indian cricket team in all likelihood will donate their entire match fees earned for the Third Test for the Kerala flood victims. However, the the official donation is likely to be delayed for a few days.

While the amount is yet to be ascertained, it could be in the region of Rs 2 crore or more, according to PTI.

"We as a team want to dedicate this win to the flood victims in Kerala. This is our bit we can do as the Indian cricket team. A tough time there," Kohli said in the post-match presentation after the 203-run win over the home team. Kerala has been devastated by floods, leading to over 300 deaths.

According to reports, since BCCI's new constitution has just been adopted under Registrar of Societies, it will take some time before the Indian board can make any official donations. However the players are free to donated any other amount in their own capacities. 

The Indian players are the richest amongst the sportspersons in the country with the top players earning in millions. For a Test match, a first XI player earns Rs 15 lakh while the reserves get half that amount.

Indian cricket team bounced back strongly in the third Test of the five-match Test series to hand a crushing defeat to hosts England by 203 runs. 

It was a much-needed victory for Virat Kohli and his team who were on the brink of losing the series after having lost the first two Test matches. 

However, a good all-round show ensured India emerged victorious at Trent Bridge. 

A number of cricketers including the likes of Shahid Sanju Samson and Pathan brothers - Irfan and Yusuf had shown their support for the Kerala flood victims. While Samson donated Rs 15 lakh through his father, the Pathan brothers ran a relief material collecting drive and later dispatched the essentials collected to Kerala for distribution through volunteers.
