Ishan Kishan, who has established quite a name for himself in a glorious 2020 season, has failed to create an impact in the ongoing IPL campaign in UAE as well as in India.

The 23-year-old Mumbai Indians (MI)'s wicket-keeper batter has only scored 107 runs in eight innings at a disappointing average of 13.37.

As promising as he looked with his impressive performance in the last season, this time around, it is worrying the Team India management with less than a month left for the World Cup. The former India U19 captain failed to perform in the last IPL match between MI and Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Banglore's (RCB). Kishan, scored just nine runs before Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed him as the defending champions stumbled to a 54-run defeat against RCB. After Kishan's dismal performance, Kohli was seen consoling the youngster and giving a pep talk on the ground.

MI captain Rohit Sharma also offered words of reassurance for Kishan in the post-match presentation saying, "He's a talented player. He's had a terrific IPL last year. We want to back his natural game which is why he came up the order above Surya. Don't want to put too much pressure on the guy. Relatively young, making his way in international cricket."
