Watch: India's test matches in Ranchi, Chennai were fixed by D-Company fixers, claims sting

At least three Test matches featuring India during the past two years were fixed, according to a documentary on cricket corruption by Al Jazeera.

The India v/s England Test played in Chennai (December 16-20), the India v/s Australia Test in Ranchi (March 16-20 in 2017) and India v/s Sri Lanka Galle Test (July 26-29, 2017) were influenced by fixers related to D-Company, the investigation claimed. 

D-Company is the syndicate named after Dawood Ibrahim, India's most wanted criminal.

David Harrison went undercover as a business to expose the match-fixing and corruption in cricket. 

The investigation reveals that "spot-fixes" were allegedly carried out in matches between India and England at Chennai in December 2016 and India and Australia at Ranchi in March last year.

Earlier, the report has said that Test matches in Galle were fixed by doctoring the pitches with the help of groundstaff.

Australian-England players involved, claims report

The Al Jazeera documentary titled ‘Cricket’s Match-Fixers’ also claimed that at least two Australian cricketers were involved in the fixing in Ranchi while three Englishmen fixed sessions in Chennai. 

While the England players have denied these charges, while Australians have said they do not have credible evidence on their players being part of corruption in the game.

Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit has also claimed to expose a match-fixer from Mumbai who claims to have bribed international cricketers to underperform in Test matches.

The match-fixer correctly predicted how players in two high-profile Test matches, involving the world's leading teams, would perform at a certain point during the game.

According to a report, Aneel Munawar, the match-fixer from Mumbai, was secretly recorded saying that they (undercover reporters) could make huge sums from betting on his information. 

"I'm telling you, each script I give you will happen, happen and happen," the report quoted him as saying.

Both the spot-fixes he gave us went down exactly as he had said they would.

Al Jazeera claimed that the 18-month investigation reveals that match-fixing in cricket is more widespread than ever - but becoming more difficult to prove. 

Underworld connections

According to Al Jazeera the Munawar works for a criminal mafia called D-Company i.e Dawood Ibrahim. The documentary said that the undercover reporters used an underworld intermediary to make contact with Munawar.

Munawar claimed in the Al Jazeera documentary that they can fix 60 to 70 percent of matches. 

The report said that Munawar called the undercover reporters after the coin toss to tell them what kind of fix would be happening during the game for the Chennai and Ranchi Test matches. 
Both times it was a "session" fix. In both matches, the alleged fix went down as he said it would.

Munawar also revealed the names of the players in the England and Australia teams that he said were involved in the fix.

However, Al Jazeera did not disclose the players' names for legal reasons.
