India beat South Africa by 88 runs in the first ODI of the ICC Women's Championship. It was a clinical all-round performance by the world cup runner-ups as they dominated the hosts at Diamond Oval in Kimberley on Monday.

Opener Smriti Mandhana (84) and the pace duo of Jhulan Goswami (4/24) and Shikha Pandey (3/23) were the architects of India's victory.

Electing to bat, India posted 213 for seven in their allotted 50 overs thanks to Mandhana's 98-ball innings and here 99-run stand with skipper Mithali Raj (45). South Africa failed to stitch partnerships and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Skipper D van Niekerk top-scored for South Africa with a 41.
