Rishabh Pant (49 off 21 balls) and Prithvi Shaw (46 off 38 balls) led Delhi Capitals as they chased down 163 to book their spot in Qualifier 2 against Chennai Super Kings. Earlier, Delhi Capitals restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to a par score of 162 for 8 on a good batting surface in the IPL 2019 Eliminator on Wednesday in Vizag.

Sunrisers lost momentum in those middle overs after Martin Guptill had given them a good start.  However, Vijay Shankar (25 off 11 balls) and Mohammed Nabi (20 off 13 balls) added 36 runs in 2.4 overs as SRH looked set for a bigger total. But they lost 3 wickets in the final over and could add just 11 runs.

One of the wickets to fall in the final over was Deepal Hooda who was run out in slightly controversial fashion.

On the penultimate delivery of the 20th over in the SRH’s innings, Keemo Paul bowled a slower ball wide outside off stump as Hooda swung and missed the delivery altogether. Umpire S Ravi instantly called that as a wide, and Rashid Khan, standing at the other end, called for a bye. Hooda instantly responded to that and started running, but Rishabh Pant was alert at the other end to throw the ball.

Paul, who was standing at the other end, had his eyes fixed on the ball and didn’t know that Hooda was running on exactly the same path. Paul put in a dive to catch the throw from Pant and ended up tackling Hooda.

Meanwhile, the ball went on to hit the stumps directly.

As umpires debated whether it was obstruction by the bowler, DC captain Shreyas Iyer was also unsure if Hooda should’ve been given out. He seemed to gesture that Hooda be allowed to play on. However, Rishabh Pant came forward to explain that the wicket was fiar and Hooda would have been out even without the collision. He also seemed to point out that it was batsman's mistake as he was running on the wicket and his teammate was not at fault.

In the end, Hooda had to walk back.

The dismissal was discussed on social media with everyone making their own observation about the whole episode.

Shreyas Iyer shows a big heart...

...but Rishabh Pant is all business

Meanwhile, Keemo Paul as Virgil Van Dijk?
