Baroda was staring down the barrel in their Syed Mushtaq Ali 2021 quarterfinal clash against Haryana. 19 runs were needed in the final over that was going to be bowled by Sumit Kumar of Haryana. Vishnu Solanki of Baroda had already hit a fifty and had shared a partnership of 68 with Kedar Devdhar. With Abhimanyu Rajput, Vishnu Solanki had gotten Baroda close and when 15 runs were needed off 3 balls, it seemed the game was up. However, Vishnu Solanki channeled his inner MS Dhoni and Javed Miandad and gave Baroda the ultimate win against Haryana.

The fourth ball of the final over was a slower ball from Sumit Kumar and Vishnu Solanki launched it over long-on to get the equation down to nine off the final two balls. The fifth ball was sliced over short third man for a boundary as five runs were needed off the last ball. In a stroke of inspiration, his MS Dhoni avatar came out. Sumit Kumar bowled a yorker-length ball and Vishnu Solanki helicoptered the shot down the ground for a massive six as Baroda snatched the ultimate victory. The cry of jubilation and the celebrations that followed were a sight to behold at the new Motera stadium.

MS Dhoni the double of Miandad

In the IPL 2016 encounter between Rising Pune Supergiant and Kings XI Punjab, the final clash between the two sides saw an epic from MS Dhoni. MS Dhoni hit two sixes and his reputation as one of the greatest finishers in world cricket was cemented. The story of the last ball six was made famous in 1986 when Javed Miandad of Pakistan hit a full toss in the final ball of the match bowled by Chetan Sharma with five runs needed as Pakistan sealed a famous win off the last ball.
