Virat Kohli has uploaded a video message on his Instagram handle where he is urging people to not burst crackers during this festival and has requested people to protect the environment.
Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket team skipper who is currently in Australia for the upcoming three match and three ODI series, has conveyed his Diwali wishes to millions of Indians on his Instagram handle. Speaking in the short video, Virat Kohli wishes everyone Happy Diwali and urged people to not burst crackers and take care of the environment. “A very Happy Diwali from me to you and your families. May god bless you with peace, prosperity and happiness this Diwali. Please remember do not burst crackers. Protect the environment and have fun with your loved ones with a simple diya and sweets on this auspicious occasion. Take care and god bless you all.”
The Indian cricket team went from one bio-bubble to the other as they reached Australia a couple of days back in order to be in quarantine for 14 days. For over 50 days, the members of the Indian cricket team were in the IPL bio-bubble and they managed to stay fit and active. India will play three ODIs, three Twenty20 Internationals and four Tests in their nearly two-month tour of Australia.
However, Virat Kohli will not be available for three Tests after the BCCI granted him paternity leave for the birth of his child. Kohli will play three ODIs, three Twenty20 Internationals and the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide before flying back home to be with his wife Anushka Sharma as the couple are all set to become proud parents in January.
Kohli will miss the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, the New Year’s Test in Sydney and the final Test which will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane. The decision of Kohli to not play three Tests has left social media mixed, with many appreciating the decision while some cited the example of MS Dhoni not seeing his daughter despite being on national duty.
Virat Kohli endured a moderate IPL 2020 tournament where he scored over 400 runs but his average and strike-rate were low as compared to his high standards. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s wait for an IPL trophy extended into the next year as they were eliminated in the Eliminator by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sheikh Zayed stadium in Abu Dhabi.
