After Rohit Sharma's selection saga due to his hamstring injury to Varun Chakravarthy said to be struggling despite being 'fit' to bowl, the All-India Senior Selection Committee met on Sunday to pick replacements for these players.

The meeting took place after receiving injury reports and updates from the BCCI Medical Team.

Following are the players who will be missing/replacing:

Virat Kohli:  The skipper had informed the BCCI about his plans to return to India after the first Test in Adelaide asking for paternity leave. The BCCI has granted the same and Kohli will return after the first Test.

Rohit Sharma: The vice-captain had picked up a hamstring injury during his Mumbai Indians' (MI) twin SuperOver clash against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). He was sidelined from all three squads for the Australia tour and the BCCI Medical Team has been monitoring his fitness. In consultation with Mr Sharma, it has been decided to rest him for the ODIs and T20Is to regain full fitness. He has been, however, included in India’s Test squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Sanju Samson: The Selection Committee has added the Rajasthan Royals (RR) batsman as an additional wicket-keeper to India’s ODI squad.

Ishant Sharma: The senior Indian fast bowler has been undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Once he recovers fully, he will be added to India’s Test squad.

Varun Chakravarthy: The spinner is reportedly grappling with a shoulder injury which he picked during the IPL 2020. He has a labrum tear in his shoulder which does not affect his bowling but does hamper his throwing, Indian Express reported. He has now been ruled out of the T20I series. The selectors have named T Natarajan as a replacement.

Wriddhiman Saha: The senior Indian wicket-keeper sustained injuries to both his hamstrings on 3rd November and a call on his availability will be taken later.

Kamlesh Nagarkoti: The young fast bowler will not be travelling to Australia as he is still working with the medical team on his bowling workload management.
