India launched their ICC Women's U19 World Cup campaign with great enthusiasm on Day 2 of the tournament.
India, the defending champions, began their campaign at the ICC Women's T20 U19 World Cup 2025 with a comprehensive victory against the West Indies at the Bayeumas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. India bowled out the West Indies for 44 runs in the first innings before chasing down the target in 4.2 overs, ending with nine wickets in hand.
After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, India had a strong performance with both the ball and the field, taking control of the match from the outset.
Joshitha VJ had an early impression, dismissing West Indies skipper Samara Ramnath in her second over. She swiftly followed up by sending Naijanni Cumberbatch to the pavilion for a duck on the following ball.
The spin duo of Aayushi Shukla and Parunika Sisodia further solidified India's hold on the game, with Shukla taking two wickets and Sisodia wrapping up with a three-wicket haul.
Indian fielders also helped to dismantle the West Indies tail, resulting in three run outs as the opposition failed to create partnerships. Despite losing opener G Trisha early in the chase, Kamalini G and Sanika Chalke secured India's win without losing another wicket.
With this impressive win, the defending champions now sit atop Group A with two points and a strong Net Run Rate of +8.646 after the first round of matches.
