India and Pakistan are arch-enemies at every stage. Every forum in the world has been witness to the legendary enmity between the neighbours, thanks to Pakistan's support to terrorism. This is often reflected on the sports ground where the tension is always high between the two traditional rivals.
However, a moment during the Under-19 World Cup semifinal match between India and Pakistan showed us that there are no enemies on a sports field and only rivals.
In a picture that now has gone viral on the social media, a Pakistan fielder is seen tying the shoelaces of Indian centurion Shubham Gill. The fielder approaches the batsman on the non-striker's end after the fifth ball of 48th over.
While tension is always high in any match between India and Pakistan, moments like these show that sportsman spirit must always prevail over any politics that takes place off the field.
India was at the moment 251-7 and Gill, batting at 93, was nearing towards his century.
He went on to notch a ton and remained unbeaten for 102 (94) as India set a target of 273 runs for Pakistan. He was helped by openers Prithvi Shaw and Manjot Kalra who provided a solid start after India won the toss and elected to bat first.
From Pakistan, Muhammad Musa (4/67) and Arshad Iqbal (3/51) were most successful among bowlers.
India has so far been unbeaten in the tournament, while Pakistan's only defeat came in their opening match against Afghanistan.
Pakistan was off to a bad start and lost 7 early wickets for just 45 runs. They were bundled out by Indian bowlers for just 69, beating them by 203 runs. Ishan Porel claimed 4 wickets for 17 runs.
Irrespective of the result of the match, Pakistani players won the heart of many Indians with this gesture.
