As England batsman took the field on Day 2 of the third Test against India at Headingley in Leeds, they were seen wearing black armbands. So why were they wearing it?
The reason behind it was the players paying tribute to former England skipper, Ted Dexter who breathed his last on August 26, 2021.

In a career that lasted a decade, Dexter had represented England in 62 Test matches and had scored 4502 runs. The right-handed batsman also plundered nine centuries and a double century in his career. Dexter even scalped 66 wickets.
Cricket correspondent Nick Hoult had confirmed that the English side will be wearing black armbands to pay respect to the legendary England cricketer.

As for the clash, the Three Lions destroyed the Indian batting lineup on the first day of the third Test. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Indian side could only manage to score 78 runs.
Pacer James Anderson had cleaned up the Indian top order and scalped the wickets of KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Virat Kohli in quick succession. In his 8 over spell, Anderson gave away just 6 runs and picked up 3 wickets.
Apart from Anderson, Craig Overton also picked up 3 wickets while Ollie Robinson and Sam Curran picked two willow wielders each.
As for India, expect Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane, who scored 19 and 18 respectively, no other Indian batsman even could even cross the 20-run mark.
England had ended Day 1 with 120/0, and already lead India by 42 runs. Openers Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed scored half-centuries each.
As for the five-match Test series, India currently leading it 1-0. The first Test at Nottingham had ended in a draw and in the second, India had thrashed the England side by 151 runs at Lord's.
