After having their share of matches in the qualifying round, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh made it to the Super 12 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021. Now the two sides are facing each other in the Group 1 clash of the ongoing tournament in Sharjah.
However, during the match, things took a heated turn after Sri Lanka had won the toss and sent Bangladesh to bat first. During the fifth over, Sri Lanka bowler Lahiru Kumara and batter Liton Das were seen having a war of words after the latter was dismissed.
While Kumara provided the breakthrough for Sri Lanka, the two cricketers were seen having a word or two. The batsman clearly did not like what was told to him and he responded back. In fact, it turned uglier and it needed the intervention of other players to separate the two.

As for the dismissal, it was a pitched up ball and Liton Das shimmied it down the track. He had moved leg-side in an attempt to go over mid-off. The ball made decent contact but did not get the necessary elevation.
Shanaka, who was at the edge of the circle, took an overhead catch before the drama unfolded. Liton Das had to walk away after scoring16 off 16 balls.
