'They made really bad calls': Yuvraj Singh criticises Team India management, selectors over 2019 World Cup debacle

This is not the first time when 'Yuvi' fired shots at the BCCI selection committee. After his retirement from the national side earlier this year, Yuvraj had also claimed that he was not picked by the selectors even after clearing the yo-yo test.

Former Team India cricketer Yuvraj Sigh has once again lashed out the Indian team management and the selection committee for their poor planning for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Virat Kohli lead India got knocked out by Williamson's New Zealand when the two sides met in the semi-final of the World Cup back in July last year. Bowling first, Indian bowlers managed to restrict the Kiwis to 239/8 after the end of 50 overs.

On the chase, Men In Blue's top order failed miserably as Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli were dismissed for India while facing an inform Black Caps bowling attack on the day.

It was Ravindra Jadeja's late 77 run innings, partnered with MS Dhoni's coolness that India managed to come close to actually pulling off the chase but failed in doing so.

Speaking at the Expo 2020 Dubai cricket final, Yuvraj also claimed that with the amount of talent that India has in their squad, they need to win major International titles soon.

“I just felt that the 2019 World Cup planning was really poor. I think that the team management and selectors made some really bad calls – before the World Cup and in the World Cup – and that is what cost them.” Yuvraj was quoted as saying by Sport360.

"They should (win a major title). With the amount of talent that they have in the form of the players and squad, they really should,” he added.

This is not the first time when 'Yuvi' fired shots at the BCCI selection committee. After his retirement from the national side earlier this year, Yuvraj had also claimed that he was not picked by the selectors even after clearing the yo-yo test.

However, the former allrounder did claim that under the capable leadership of the new BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, Team India will definitely turn things around again and will do wonders at the 2020 T20I World Cup in Australia later this year.

“I think Sourav Ganguly coming in as BCCI president will give a lot of brain to it in making such things better," Yuvi said.

"We have the talent no doubt, we just need a good think tank, and hopefully, we will be ready for the coming T20I World Cup in Australia,” he added.
