India lost a shortened T-20 game by 4 runs against Australia with a little help from the D/L method. Karthik and Pant took India close to Australia's target after Dhawan's blitzkrieg but they were unable to finish the job.

Australia fought back to win the first Twenty20 International (T20I) against favourites India by four runs at the Gabba, Brisbane on Wednesday.

How Twitter reacted to the defeat

After the rain stopped the match during Australia's innings, the Duckworth-Lewis method reduced the match to 17 overs per side and the hosts set a target of 174 for Virat Kohli and Co.

Shikhar Dhawan gave India a flying start from then wickets kept falling on the other end, including captain Virat Kohli, who went cheaply for just four runs. His wicket was soon followed by Dhawan and there began the collapse until Dinesh Karthik took the charge with young Pant on the other end.

However, the Australian bowlers despite being expensive in terms of economy managed to make breakthroughs at the very correct times and that took to the final over where India needed 13 runs and the hosts fell short by four runs in the end.

While consimerating the defeat, there was a reason R Ashwin was thrilled, expressing the exact opposite sentinment of John Lennon's Imagine which talked about a world without boundaries. Ashwin on the other hand, was thrilled with them.

He wrote on Twitter: “The boundary sizes in Australia phew--- is a delight for the bowlers. Such a closely fought game, too bad it din’t go our way. This is going to be a cracking series.”
