After 37 Tests and 55 innings, Ravindra Jadeja finally scored his maiden Test ton during the Day two of the first Test between India and West Indies at his home ground of Rajkot on Friday.

Every time Jadeja reached the fifty-run mark, he does a special sword celebration. Hailing from a Rajpur family, the sword celebration is key element in their celebrations and hence Jadeja has been doing so.

Two years back, Jadeja came close to registering his first-ever Test century but unfortunately he got dismissed on 90 in a Test against England in Mohali.

When Jadeja was on 78 on Friday, he earned a life after Hetymer dropped him off Braithwaite’s bowling. He scored a six and a four in the next two overs as he entered the 90s.  Jadeja then smashed a six followed by a single to reach 98.

However, Kraigg Brathwaite bowled a maiden over and delayed Jadeja’s much-awaited maiden Test ton by a few more minutes.

Jadeja faced just one delivery the following over and that took him to 99 but then he was on strike in the 150th over.

It was Briathwaite again and Jadeja started off with three dot balls, clearly was frustrated as he was just a run away from the historic moment. The fourth delivery was the moment; Jadeja ran like anything for a single, didn’t stop for a while as he closed his eyes soaking the moment and looked skywards before the sword celebration returned.

The moment was even more special because it happened in front of his home crowd in Rajkot as each and every one in the stands got off their seats applauding the deserving centurion. When the camera panned on the dressing room, his teammates were also on the feat, cheering for him with huge smiles on the faces.

Kohli then signalled declaring India’s innings at 649 for 9 in 149. 5 overs.
