Reacting to a question that if he gets a chance to ask questions to head coach of team India Ravi Shastri during ongoing Asia cup, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly quipped  "I will ask who picks the team, Rohit Sharma or Ravi Shastri?"

Ganguly also stated that, unlike football, cricket is a captain's game, hence coaches should take a backseat.

Ganguly was in Pune's Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for the launch of his book- 'A Century is not Enough'. Following the launch of the book, Ganguly participated in the panel discussion and he also took some questions from audiences.

Amidst the cold war between Ganguly and Shastri, when one of the participants of the panel discussion asked Ganguly that if he gets a chance to ask questions to Shastri, Ganguly said, "I will ask him, who picks the team, Rohit Sharma or Shastri?"

As the audience burst into laughter, Ganguly clarified that he made the statement in humorous way. The prolific left-handed batsman also said that he would like to ask Shastri how he changes the current Indian team to perform in a similar manner away from the subcontinent.

Speaking about the role of coaches in the game of cricket, Ganguly stated that the coach should have man management skills. He also stated that hardly few have the skills of man management today. Without naming anyone he lashed out at some of the present coaches stating that they want to coach the team on similar lines of how football coaches do.

"Some coaches think that they will run cricket like how football coaches do. They must realise that the cricket is captain's game and they should take backseat," he said.

Speaking about the pressure that the current players have to face, Ganguly stated, that pressure will always be there but the captain will have to make sure that he does not put so much of pressure that the player will 'crack'. "Virat Kohli will have to work on this aspect," Ganguly said.

Ganguly while speaking to media persons also raised concern over the quality of teams like Sri Lanka, Pakistan and West Indies and stated that their respective boards will have to take steps to strengthen their teams. He also Shastri that team India's best chance to win a series in Australia is this year as according to him, the present Australian cricket team is the weakest team he has ever seen.
