India opener Shubman Gill, who did not take the field on Day 4 of the 2nd Chennai Test has been taken for scans after he took a blow to his arm while fielding on Day 3 against England. The batsman is being monitored by the medical team.

BCCI shared the news on their official Twitter handle and wrote, "Shubman Gill sustained a blow on his left forearm while fielding on Day 3 of the 2nd Test. He has been taken for a precautionary scan. The BCCI Medical Team is assessing him. He won't be fielding today".

Gill was fielding at forward short leg when was hit by a blow to his forearm. 

Gill, while in the first innings was out for a duck, in the second, he scored 14 but was caught in the spin web of Jack Leach. The young lad had made his debut in the Australia series Down Under and the 21-year-old had announced his arrival on the big stage with a classic knock of 91.

His knock had set the tone for India's incredible victory on the final day of the series-deciding fourth Test against Australia.
