Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has been extremely vocal about the deadly coronavirus outbreak which has taken over 40,000 lives across the world. Either through videos or tweets, the bowler has expressed his anger and concerns about the after-effects of the virus outbreak.

The Pakistani speedster in a tweet said that the disease will leave people bankrupt. “This Coronavirus pandemic is going to leave more people bankrupt than dead,” Akhtar tweeted on Tuesday.

Akhtar’s remarks came on the same day the United Nations (UN) said that the world economy will go into recession with a predicted loss of trillions of dollars. The UN also said that developing countries would face a lot of trouble with the likely exception of India and China.

With two-thirds of the world’s population living in developing countries, the UN is calling for a USD 2.5 trillion rescue package for these nations.

Earlier, he had released a video in which he asked people in Pakistan to stop eating junk food and to adapt good eating habits. In the same video, he even criticised “internet doctors” for spreading misinformation.

In another, Akhtar slammed Pakistani people for not understanding the gravity of the situation and treating it as ‘holiday or picnic’.

In the beginning, he had released a video in which he took a dig at China accusing them for the spread of the virus.
