Although Ruchir lost the RCA’s president election to Dr CP Joshi, given the clout of the Modi group and delicate situation of hosting IPL matches, the present dispensation cannot afford to ignore Ruchir. It may be noted that on March 24, the Modi camp raised a hue and cry over Dr Joshi appointing his PA as one-point contact person on behalf of RCA for dealing with BCCI, Rajasthan Royals and other stakeholders. The effect of it was seen on March 26 when Dr Joshi went to chief minister’s residence to invite her for IPL matches, the RCA delegation included RS Nandu, a known Modi loyalist. By including Ruchir in IPL committees, the Dr Joshi group wants to send a signal that for IPL matches, it has set aside personal differences but only time will tell how long this bonhomie will last.
