The Indian cricket team has not played any ODIs ever since February 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, that has not stopped the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from dominating the charts. In the latest ICC ODI rankings released on Wednesday, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma continue to dominate the ICC rankings. Virat Kohli has 871 points while Rohit Sharma has 855 points. India’s last ODI series was against New Zealand in March in which they lost 3-0. Kohli managed just one fifty in that series and averaged just 25 while Rohit missed the whole ODI and Test series due to a hamstring injury.

The first ODI series that was played amidst the coronavirus pandemic was the Australia vs England ODI series which was won by Australia 2-1. However, recently Pakistan hosted Zimbabwe for three ODIs and they won it 2-1 in Rawalpindi. Babar Azam was the star with 221 runs including a knock of 125 in the final ODI which saw Zimbabwe win the match in a tense Super Over. Babar Azam has gained eight points after his performance but he still remains in third position.

India are expected to play three ODIs against Australia in November-December after the end of the IPL 2020. The ODIs will be played in Sydney and Canberra.

India domination in bowling

Not only is India dominating in the batting charts, they are dominating the bowling charts as well. Jasprit Bumrah is in the second position but he is very close behind his Mumbai Indians bowling partner Trent Boult of New Zealand. Bumrah is the only Indian in the top 10 list of bowlers but the all-rounders list continues to see Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh on top.

Shakib Al Hasan was banned for one year for failing to report corrupt practices to the ICC ACU. Shakib’s ban ended in October and he is expected to return to Bangladesh’s competitive cricket on November 10.

India and Australia players could make some major gains as they square off in the next series. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s Super Over win in the final ODI has helped them gain 10 points while Pakistan got 20 points, remaining ahead of Australia on net run rate. England lead with 30 points after playing two series of the Super League, introduced to bring context to ODI cricket and to decide the seven direct qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup along with hosts India.
