Former Team India skipper Rahul Dravid has revealed how MS Dhoni's ability to dissociate himself from the result of a match is the main propelling force for him in becoming one of the best finishers in limited over cricket.

After making his debut for the Men In Blue back in 2004 under Sourav Ganguly's captaincy, Dhoni established himself in the national squad under Dravid's leadership.

"You watch MS Dhoni play during the backend of a match when he was at his best, you always felt like that he is doing something really important to him but he is playing it like the result does not really matter to him," Dravid told Sanjay Manjrekar during their videoconference.

"I think you need to have that or you need to train for it. It is a skill that I never had. The consequences of any decision mattered to me."

"It would be interesting to ask MS Dhoni that is this something that has come naturally to him or did he work on this during his career," he added.

Since India's semi-final exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against New Zealand in August last year, MSD hasn't featured for the Men In Blue.

The 13th edition of the IPL was supposed to act as a stepping stone for Dhoni to showcase his worth and forge his way back into the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, BCCI decided to postpone the kick-off the IPL 2020 until further notice.

During his break from cricket, the 38-year-old also served for the Indian Army too.

The opening match of this year's IPL was supposed to be played between the most successful teams of IPL - defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and CSK - at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29.
