Bihar spinner Ashutosh Aman broke the 44-year old record of most wickets in a single Ranji Trophy season on Wednesday. Aman finished the season on a high claiming 11 wickets in Bihar’s final league match against Manipur. Bihar claimed full points from their final league game of the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season claiming a three-wicket win at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Patna.

Aman claimed all three wickets to fall on day three to finish 68 wickets in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season. He overtook Bishan Singh Bedi, who had picked 64 wickets for Delhi during the 1974-75 season. 

However, Bihar failed to qualify for the knockout stages despite the win finishing second in Plate group with 40 points behind Uttarakhand (44). 

During the season, Aman has grabbed nine five-wicket hauls in an innings and five 10-wicket haul in a match, leading Bihar to six wins out of eight games. Aman, who captained Bihar for the latter part of the team’s campaign, also made 337 runs at an average of 48.14.
