Madhya Pradesh suffered one of the most dramatic collapses in Ranji Trophy history as they went from 35/3 to 35 all out against Andhra in their Elite Group B match on Wednesday. They lost 6 wickets in the space of 23 balls while one batsman was absent hurt.
Andra won the match by 307 runs ending MP's hopes of qualifying for the knockouts.
Madhya Pradesh's last seven batsmen did not open their account as eight batsmen scored ducks in the fourth innings of the match. Only Aryaman Birla (12) and Yash Dubey (16) could reach double figures. KV Sasikanth and Paidikalva Vijaykumar were the architects of the collapse with Sasikanth taking 6/18 while Vijaykumar took 3/17.Pacer Girinath Reddy, who took six wickets for Andhra in the first innings, did not get to bowl.
Andhra had scored 301 in their second innings leaving Madhya Pradesh with a target of 343 runs. Reddy had taken 6/29 in Madhya Pradesh's first innings to skittle the Group B leaders for a paltry 91 in response to Andhra's 132 in their first innings.
