The first T20I clash between England Women vs West Indies Women saw one of the most bizarre stoppages of play in the final over of the match which even left the commentators laughing in disbelief.

The entire incident took place during the final over of the match, with Windies needing 50 runs to win the match from the last four deliveries of the game.

One would think that the match was done and dusted at that point, however, England bowler Katherine Brunt was not at all ready to take any risks.

While the match was just moments away from its ending, Brunt called for a stoppage in play so that the ground officials can spread some sawdust over the pitch.

As per reports, this was done to prevent Brunt from picking up any sort of injuries in the dying embers of the match.

However, with just four more balls to go even the match commentators couldn't fathom the need of it at that moment as they couldn't stop themselves from laughing at the elongated stoppage of play.

In the end, England Women ended up bagging a huge 47-run win over the West Indies in the first match of their Twenty20 series on Monday on the back of Tammy Beaumont's match-winning half-century.
