Virat Kohli smashed his 39th one-day international century while MS Dhoni scored his second half century in two matches as India beat Australia by six wickets at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.
They are back level in the three-match series at 1-1.

It was a big innings for MS Dhoni who has been under scrutiny for his poor performance in recent matches. He had to face some criticism even after his 51 in the first match as it came at a very slow pace.

However, Dhoni scored 55 on Tuesday off 54 balls with a strike rate of 101.85. Skipper Kohli contributed of 104 of his side's runs as they successfully chased down their victory target of 299 for the loss of four wickets to send the series into a decider on Friday at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Dhoni, clearly suffering in the heat, smashed a huge six to bring the scores level and reach his half century before scoring the winning run with four balls to spare.

Several former and present cricketers reacted to India's win congratulating Virat and Dhoni for their innings.

Virender Sehwag tweeted in his signature style, "Picture abhi baaki hai mere Dost! Wonderful innings from Virat. Dhoni and Karthik finishing it in style. Will need more matches with 4-5-6 playing handy match-winning knocks"

Sachin hailed Virat for his century calling Adelaide as his 'adopted home ground'. He also praised Dhoni and Karthik for taking India home.

VVS Laxman tweeted, "Fantastic run chase by India. Excellent 100 from Virat, he makes it look very easy. Was wonderful to see Dhoni finish of the game beautifully and Dinesh Karthik’s cameo was very very important in the end. The final game should be a cracker."

Dean Jones was all praise for Dhoni calling him a 'freak'

"It’s amazing that in the last ODI game, that many people criticised @msdhoni and he got a rough LBW decision, now with @imVkohli and @DineshKarthik he finishes a great game. Dhoni is a freak. Been saying it for years."

R Ashwin also applauded the former Indian captain.

Jasprit Bumrah wrote, "Legends don't need to prove their worth to anyone. Great display of class and temperament by Mahi bhai @msdhoni and @imVkohli Congratulations on the win!"

Suresh Rain was also all praise for Dhoni and Kohli

Shaun Marsh had earlier scored a sparkling 131, his second century in three outings in the format, to drive the hosts to 298 for nine in their 50 overs in the heat of the afternoon when temperatures soared well above the 40 degree Celsius mark.
