As Pakistan is gearing to host the Sri Lankan cricket team for their two-Test series, the visitors - who landed in Islamabad - were escorted by Army Security forces.

In a video tweeted by the official Twitter handle of the Pakistan Cricket Board, the players can be seen walking to the team bus.

The series will mark the return of Test cricket to Pakistan since the 2009 Lahore Terror attack targetting the Sri Lankan cricket team bus which killed eight people and wounded several cricketers.

After the attack, citing security issues, Pakistan were forced to play all their home matches at a neutral venue in the United Arab Emirates as foreign teams refused to tour the country.

However, in recent times, Zimbabwe and the West Indies toured the country for their T20I series and many international cricketers have taken part in the Pakistan Super League.

Sri Lanka too had toured Pakistan in September and October for their three one-day internationals and as many Twenty20s. The visitors had said they were satisfied with the security arrangements before confirming the Test tour.

While the first Test starts in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, the second begins in Karachi on December 19.

Pace spearhead Suranga Lakmal has been ruled out of the tour due to dengue and youngster Ashitha Fernando will join the team for the second Test from Nepal.
