The Nidahas Trophy T20I match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was ill-tempered, to say the least. The match, which saw Bangladesh beat the hosts in the very last over to enter the final, was marred by some bizarre incidents.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan was seen threatening to pull off his team, and one Sri Lankan player pushing a Bangladesh substitute when he had come on the field with drinks.

Shakib Al Hasan's angry gesture asking his batsmen to leave the ground during the last over and Nurul Hasan's fight with Thissara Perera earned both Bangladesh players fines and demerit points. There are reports of Bangladesh players involved in breaking the glass wall of their dressing room during the celebrations.

The day was also marked by frenzied yet bizarre celebrations.

Bangladesh were also seen doing the ‘Nagin dance’ celebration after sealing their spot in the final. The reason behind the celebration has its roots in an incident that took place earlier this year.

It all began when Nazmul Islam celebrated Upul Tharanga’s wicket in the first T20I of Sri Lanka’s tour of Bangladesh earlier this year. Nazmul broke into the ‘snake dance’ celebration at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.

Mushfiqur Rahim has also been involved in ‘snake dance’ celebrations.

On Friday, when Rahim was dismissed for a 25-ball 28, he was given a send-off by Sri Lanka bowler Amila Aponso, who played an imaginary pungi (flute) as the Bangladesh batsman walked off.

However, Bangladesh had the last laugh. Later on, when they won the match, the ‘Tigers’ in unison broke into the ‘Nagin Dance’ celebration.
